Major Parks of PHA, Lahore
1. Jilani Park
Jilani Park (formerly known as Race Course Park) is located in the city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is on the Jail Road in front of the Services Hospital. It is famous for its floral exhibitions and an artificial waterfall. Annual horse racing competitions are held in this park. There is also a famous restaurant inside the park called 'Polo Lounge'. Located right in front of Jail Road, Jillani Park is definitely an amusement for the viewers, all courtesy of PHA who upgraded the outlook of the entire park. With its exquisite floral exhibitions, artificial waterfall, lakes, fitness gym, jogging track, race course and green lush grounds, PHA has made Jillani Park top the list of best attractions in Lahore. Annual horse racing competition held there is a talk of the town.
Bagh-e-Jinnah is a historical park in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. It was formerly known as Lawrence Gardens. Today, the large green space contains a botanical garden, Masjid Dar-ul-Islam, and Quaid-e-Azam Library situated in a Victorian building.
There are also entertainment and sports facilities within the park: an open-air theater, a restaurant, tennis courts and the Gymkhana Cricket Ground. It is located on Lawrence Road next to Lahore Zoo, directly across from the Governor's House on The Mall.
It has almost 150 varieties of trees, 140 types of shrubs, 50 types of creepers, 30 palms, almost 100 succulent and about same indoor along with almost all varieties of annual flowers. The garden has a good name in Chrysanthemum shows, it was the first institute that started growing chrysanthemum and maximum no of varieties for it. It has 3 nurseries, 4 hilloaks in it.
3. Greater Iqbal Park
Iqbal Park (formerly Minto Park) is an urban park; after renovation and expansion its name is Greater Iqbal Park located on the outskirts of the Walled City in Lahore, Pakistan Inaugurated by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef on 17 Dec 2017.
The project features expansion of the Iqbal Park by including it in the stretch of Circular Road between the park and Lahore Fort. The 125-acre green oasis is surrounded almost entirely by the old city of Lahore. Visitors can lounge on rolling lawns and take in the panoramic view of the symbolic Minar-e-Pakistan, the majestic Lahore Fort, the iconic Azadi Interchange and the historic Badshahi Mosque. 4 kilometer long walkways provide ample opportunities for running and cycling. In addition, the guests can take a stroll through the cascade surrounded by four memorial monuments, ride in the soft rail that runs along the 2 kilometers long Buggy Track or picnic near the lake and enjoy 800 feet long musical fountain performance. Moreover, the park features lush greenery, ample seating and artistic food courts and shopping kiosks for visitors.
4. Botanical Garden Jallo / Butterfly House Jallo
A botanical garden is a place where plants, especially ferns, conifers and flowering plants, are grown and displayed for the purposes of research and education. This distinguishes them from parks and pleasure gardens where plants, usually with showy flowers, are grown for public amenity only. Botanical gardens that specialize in trees are sometimes referred to as arboretums. They are occasionally associated with universities, zoos.
Pakistan's First Butterfly House in Lahore, which has species from all over the world & 35 to 40 local species.it also has a beautiful fish aquarium.
Established solely for the entertainment of citizens and located in the heart of Jallo Park, Butterfly house is the first initiative of its kind and houses more than 3000 species of butterflies. The setup includes a 300 feet long tunnel which provides a perfect habitat for butterflies and a butterfly laboratory educates the visitors about the diverse species of this insect. The environment is critically monitored for the survival of butterflies and comfort of the visitors.
5. The Gulshan Iqbal Park
The Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park is a large park and recreational space in Lahore, Pakistan. The park is one of the largest park in the Lahore city. It is situated in Allama Iqbal Town. The name Gulshan-e-Iqbal is literally translated as "the garden of Iqbal," referring to Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. It has many recreational rides for children & adults making it a popular venue for families. It also features a vast artificial lake and a mini-zoo.
The park is well maintained by the PHA Lahore, with new playing areas and rides being added recently due to increased public interest.
